The length of two sides of a triangle are 4 yds. and 8 yds, Between what two lengths must the third side mea.
Q.
Asked by B. - Wed Apr 9 11:17:39 2008 - Homework Help - 3 Answers - Comments
A. This revolves around the law that says that the sum of 2 sides of a triangle is greater than the large side a + b > c (if c is the large side of the triangle) So, if 4yd and 8yd are the small sides, the large side has to be less than 12 yards. 4 + 8 > c 12 > c or c 8 a > 4 so the third side has to be greater than 4 and less than 12 (between 4-12)

how many yds. of pea gravel do I need to fill an area that is 125 feet by 4 feet?
Q.
Asked by N G - Fri Jun 6 16:01:22 2008 - Garden & Landscape - 7 Answers - Comments
A. Pea gravel is usually about 3/8" in diameter. You should put it on about 2" deep. On average, it is about 90 sq ft of pea gravel per ton. The would mean that you would need 6.666 tons (rounded to 6.7 tons). 1.2 tons is a cubic yard, so that would be about 5.5 cubic yards. Just to be on the safe side, I would ask the company that you are getting it from about the diameter of the gravel, as it may alter your calculations.

CFL Fans: Why do you always say that the NFL is boring when NFL QB's pass for 3,000 to 4,000 yds in 16 games?
Q. And CFL QB's pass for 3,500 - 4,500 yds in 18 games? Seems like NFL QB's pass the ball just as much. Why don't you look at how many times each league punts the ball each game? And what exactly is so boring about Drew Brees, Payton Manning, Tom Brady, Philip Rivers, Randy Moss and Larry Fitzgerald??? i don't care if u prefer the CFL to the NFL, but give me a break with the "NFL is boring" crap.

A. And NFL players are now whining about going to 18 games with only 2 exhibition games saying it would dilute the meaning of each game??? Come on knuckheads, 2 more weeks of excitement as opposed to meaningless exhibitions?? CFL has more plays from scrimmage with a 20 second time clock..lots of motion before ball is snapped, a kicked ball is usually always in play unless it is kicked through the endzone or out the sidelines. I watch NFL games ocaaionally because if the one you are watching is boring or one-sidded there is usually another game that may be better on another network and they are always showing highlights of other games..CFL has one game at a time.

Clark K - R. Gould DEF - Chicago ( if you pick a DEF as well ) It could help if you added more info to. Such as how many benches spots do you have. Teams to put your money on are, Colts Bears Chargers I see Colts going far but either Bears or Chargers winning the superbowl.

Q.
Asked by Jenny N - Sun Jul 16 17:52:47 2006 - Do It Yourself (DIY) - 11 Answers - Comments
A. It sounds like you are trying to figure cubic yards not square yards, like for concrete. therefore there are 27 square feet in a cubic yard. The formula you are looking for is: length X width X depth or 26' X 12' X .33' (.33' = 4") =102.96 cubic feet 102.96 or 103 cubic feet divided by 27 =3.81 or 4 cubic yards Hope this helps.

How can I knock 4 shots of my handicap in 6 months?
Q. I know this sounds stupid but I am sure it must be possible... I play off 8.6 (9) and am desperate to improve and achieve a 5 handicap before the end of the year. Any tips and advice would be more than welcome. I hit the ball roughly 230 yds off the tee, average about 7 gir's and have a good short game but am usure as to what is holding me back. Why does a Heisman candidate have to play for one of the top 5 teams in college football?
Q. The Heisman trophy is supposed to go to the best PLAYER! (In theory !!!) Not the best player on the #1 team! I am a die hard SEC fan and I am still all for CJ Spiller from Clemson winning. He is clearly the best player (19 carries 230 yds 4 TDS in ACC championship) yet gets less consideration because he plays for a lower ranked squad even though he put them in the ACC championship.

A. i agree with the last post, heisman trophy winners usually play on great teams bc there are other players around him that make things easier on the canidate, i really thought the winner of the heisman would come to surface today, i thought the winner of the Alabama/Florida game and either Ingram, or Tebow, depending on the winnging team and the best numbers, or Mc Coy from Texas. i thought whoever made the biggest statement would be the heisman, and clearly Ingram was the only player out of this group to make that statement. hard to argue with Spiller from Clemson, or Gerhart from Standford either. and after watching Nebraska play i wouldnt argue with Suh being mentioned either

A. From what i can tell you have a rectangle with a width of X and a length of X+4. You know if you divided the rectangle in half the divider would be 8 yards long. Knowing that you want to find out what X is. Here's how it is done. Cutting the rectangle in half gives a triangle with sides A, B and C, where A=8, B=X and C=X+4. Using Pythagoras you know that A^2=B^2+C^2 Therefore 8^2=X^2+(X+4)^2 Therefore 64=X^2+X^2+8*X+16 Therefore 48=2*X^2+8*X Therefore 24=X^2+4*X Therefore X^2+4*X-24=0 Next you factorize, but I'll leave that to you, hopefully this will start you off.
